The fact that Yinn has a brother was one of the reasons to write Redemption. The character design was already clear in our minds. He was going to be alike Yinn, so we only had to change his hairstyle a bit. / El que Yinn tuviera un hermano fue uno de los alicientes para hacer Redemption. El diseño del personaje ya lo teníamos claro. Iba a parecerse a Yinn, así que lo único que teníamos que cambiarle un poco era el pelo.

We imagined him with long hair. From that idea, we started testing. Here you can see some examples. / Nos lo imaginábamos con el pelo largo. En base a eso, fuimos probando. Aquí tenéis algunos bocetillos.

Eventually, we decided his hair would be not that long./ Al final, decidimos que no fuera demasiado largo.

In the above illustration, which we did for the Bishie Con we still didn’t have developed him completely. We didn’t like the idea of him having the same clothes but in a different color than Yinn’s, even if in that illustration it looked funny. / En la anterior ilustración que hicimos para la Bishie Con aún no le teníamos diseñado del todo. Eso de que llevara una ropa como la de Yinn pero en otro color no nos gustaba, aunque en la ilustración tuviera su gracia.

So the next thing was to find a fancy suit for him. / De modo que lo siguiente fue buscarle un vestidito.

Black and white version / En versión blanco y negro.

To finish up, this still WIP picture (we have to add color and the tattoos) is the final complete design. / Y por último, éste dibujo que está en proceso (falta colorearlo y añadir los tatuajes) es el diseño definitivo al completo.

The Executioners (first sketches)

Aagh! What a week, full of unexpected issues. We hardly have time to update the website. ^^UU Also, we’re working non-stop so we can, almost other things, have chapter 4 ready. / ¡Aagh! Menuda semana de imprevistos. Casi no tenemos tiempo de actualizar la web ^^UU Además estar currando a tope para, entre otras cosas, poder tener listo el capítulo 4.

We are uploading some sketches of the Executioners, except for Shen, because we are leaving him for another post. We wanted to upload the final full body designs but it won’t be possible for the moment. / Os dejamos con unos bocetillos de los Ejecutores, excepto Shen que lo reservamos un futuro post. Nos hubiera gustado subir directamente los diseños definitivos de cuerpo entero pero, de momento, no va a poder ser.

We hope this helps you at least a bit to picture them. / Espero que esto ayude un poco a la hora de imaginároslos.

Kamil, the Executioner of the West (despite of his southern blood). The tanned one. He should have an exotic solemn look, like a egyptian pharaoh. Not sure if we’ve succeded in our attempt, though. ^^U / Kamil, Ejecutor del Oeste (pese a su sangre sureña). El morenito. La idea es que tenga un porte solemne y exótico, rollo faraón egipcio. Aunque no sé si está muy conseguido en este primer intento. ^^U

Jarre, Executioner of the South. Calm temper and impressive size. / Jarre, Ejecutor del Sur. De caracter calmado y tamaño imponente.

Nieve, Executioner of the North. The fearful Ghost and leader of the Executioners. And, without doubt, the character with more to be revealed among them. / Nieve, Ejecutor del Norte. El temido Espectro y líder de los Ejecutores. Y, sin duda, el personaje del que más misterios quedan por revelar.

Yinn evolution

Unlike Sastre and Kaleth, Yinn wasn’t a character done for “The Guardian”, the story which was published in YaoiZone magazine. It was later when we created him, when we were working in the 2004 version. His design went through different horrendous styles. / Al contrario de Sastre y Kaleth, el personaje de Yinn no se remonta a los tiempos de la YaoiZone, sino que fue creado más tarde, cuando ya estábamos trabajando en la versión del 2004. Su diseño pasó por distintos estilos de horror.

Yinn with long hair, when we didn’t even have developed his personality. / Yinn con el pelo largo, cuando ni siquiera teníamos clara su personalidad.

Short-haired Yinn. At least, here we knew he was going to be some sort of mischievous character. / Yinn con pelo corto. Aquí, al menos, ya sabíamos que iba a ser un personaje algo loco y con bastante picardía.

Finally, we found a style we liked for him. / Finalmente dimos con uno que nos gustaba.

Since he was going to be nicknamed “the demon”, we gave him a disheveled hair, with small horn-like locks. / Como se iba a apodar “el demonio” le diseñamos el pelo muy alborotado, con esa especie de cuernitos a los lados.

During Saihôshi, The Guardian, Yinn showed us his most sarcastic smile, although he also could get serious. / A lo largo de Saihôshi, El Guardián, Yinn nos mostró su sonrisa más sarcástica, pero también sabía ponerse serio.

For Redemption, we weren’t sure if we should give him longer hair. Eventually we left it almost the same, so he didn’t look too similar to his brother. / Para Redemption no teníamos claro si hacerle el pelo más largo. Al final se lo hemos dejado casi igual para que no se parezca tanto a su hermano.

Kaleth ha pegado el estirón/ Kaleth all grown up

Como prometimos, seguimos con las lecciones de historia antigua, esta vez le toca el turno a Kaleth./ Continuing the ancient history lessons, now it’s Kaleth’s turn.

Al igual que Sastre, a Kaleth también lo creamos en el 2001. Apenas hicimos diseños previos de Kaleth, los primeros dibujos los usamos directamente para las páginas. / Same as Sastre, Kaleth was created in 2001. We didn’t draw previous concept art for him, the first pics were done directly on the pages.

Sí, ese que está a su lado es Anel./ Yes, that guy behind him is Anel.

Para la versión del 2004, quitando la pequeña evolución de dibujo, el diseño se mantuvo casi igual. / For the 2004 version, without counting the small style evolution, the design was almost identical.

Y éste es el aspecto que tenía en el cómic: / And this was his appearance in the comic:

Su pelo llegó a ser una pesadilla >_< / His hair turned out to be a nightmare >_<

En Redemption, Kaleth tiene casi 19 años. Tenía que notarse que había crecido pero al mismo tiempo seguir siendo jovencito. Lo más complicado fue encontrar un peinado apropiado. Barajamos varias opciones. / In Redemption, Kaleth is almost 19 years old. It had to be noticeable he had grown up, but at the same time continue looking young. The most difficult part was to find a fitting hairdo. We tried several options.

Finalmente, escogimos un pelo más corto pero muy similar al de la versión antigua que le diera un aspecto algo más varonil. Otro de los cambios ha sido el de eliminar su característico piercing, sabemos que habrá más de una que nos odie por ello ^^U pero en fin… Éste es el resultado: / At the end, we decided to use a hair style similar to the old version, but shorter so it gave him a bit more manly look. Another modification in Kaleth’s desing was to get rid of his lip piercing, we know a few will hate us for that ^^U but oh well… This is the final result:

Primera versión de Saihôshi

Como ya os contamos en el post que dedicamos a Sastre hace unos días, la historia de Saihôshi se nos ocurrió en el 2001. Por aquel entonces nos encargábamos de realizar la revista YaoiZone, la primera revista española dedicada al yaoi. Duró solo dos números la pobre -_-U. Por aquel entonces el yaoi era muy poco popular en nuestro país y la idea funcionó como se esperaba.

La revista no sólo se limitaba a artículos sobre manga o anime yaoi, sino también a artículos de humor como era la sección “Yaoi radar” donde, con mucha mala idea, se analizaban series no-yaoi que hacían fantasear a los aficionados (Naruto hubiera sido comentado en esta sección). Y también había un espacio para historias dibujadas por autores españoles. Aquí es donde estrenamos Saihôshi, conocida entonces simplemente por The Guardian.

Las siguientes páginas corresponden a las dos entregas que tuvo la historia. Notaréis algunas diferencias con respecto a la versión del 2006, sobre todo en el dibujo (o eso esperamos ^^U). Aun así, son unas páginas que guardamos con mucho cariño ^^o

Saihôshi very first version

Saihôshi is an old project. The first version was published in a yaoi Spanish magazine called YaoiZone. Unfortunately, the magazine wasn’t successful and it was cancelled too soon. Saihôshi was left unfinished.

Above you can see the first pages of Saihôshi that we made in 2001. Sorry, they are in Spanish ^^U But the dialogues are similar to the 2006 version.

Sastre tiene nueve añitos / Sastre is nine years old

Como lo oís (o leéis ^^), Saihôshi fue un proyecto que se ideó en el 2001. Originalmente lo creamos para la difunta revista YaoiZone y se publicó con el título de “The Guardian” . / Saihôshi was a project conceived in 2001 for the Spanish magazine YaoiZone. It was called The Guardian.

Estas eran las pintas que tenía Sastre por aquel entonces. / In those days, Sastre looked like this.

El primer diseño. Ya entonces decidimos que iría enseñando ombligo. / In his first concept, he was showing his belly button, too.

Apenas acaba de arrancar la historia, la revista cerró y nos quedamos con las ganas de terminarla. No fue hasta el 2004 que nos surgió la oportunidad de hacerlo. Kasen, una editorial polaca se interesó por el proyecto y volvimos a retomar a Sastre y cia. / The magazine was closed and the story was left unfinished. In 2004, a Polish publisher became interested in the story and we took up Sastre and the rest once again.

Esto fue lo que surgió al dibujarlo de nuevo, tres años después. / This is the concept that came out when we drew him three years later.

Pero este diseño no nos terminaba de convencer. Sobre todo el pelo de Sastre, era muy soso. Así que hicimos otra versión. / But we weren’t satisfied with this design, it was too dull, so we drew another version.

Y por primera vez, le coloreamos decentemente. / And for the first time we colored him properly.

En el 2005, cuatro años después de haber dibujado aquellas páginas para la YaoiZone, las redibujamos por completo. / In 2005, four years after those first pages for YaoiZone, we drew the story again from the beginning.

Sin embargo, Saihôshi no se publicó hasta el 2006 de la mano de Yaoi Press. Para entonces Sastre tenía este aspecto. / Eventhough, Saihôshi wasn’t published until 2006, when Yaoi Press published it. In those days, Sastre had this look.

Y ha seguido más o menos igual hasta ahora que ha estrenado nuevo look para Saihôshi Redemption. / And he has remained like that until Saihôshi Redemption, here you can see him new look.
